SQL to JSON Converter

Convert SQL INSERT statements to a JSON array of objects.

About This Tool

SQL INSERT statements are one of the most common ways to express tabular data in database systems. When migrating data, debugging queries, or extracting records from database logs, you often need to convert these statements into a more portable format like JSON.

This tool parses standard INSERT INTO syntax — including multi-row inserts, quoted strings, NULL values, booleans, and numeric types — and produces a clean JSON array of objects. Column names become JSON keys, and each VALUES tuple becomes one object in the array.

Common use cases include converting database seed files into API fixture data, transforming SQL dumps for import into NoSQL databases like MongoDB or Firestore, and extracting structured data from database migration scripts for analysis.

Frequently Asked Questions

What SQL syntax is supported?
Standard INSERT INTO table_name (col1, col2) VALUES (val1, val2), (val3, val4); syntax. Multiple INSERT statements and multi-row inserts are supported.
Are string values preserved correctly?
Yes. Single-quoted and double-quoted strings are parsed properly, including escaped quotes (doubled quotes like ''). NULL, TRUE, and FALSE are converted to their JSON equivalents.
What about numeric values?
Numbers (integers and decimals) are automatically converted to JSON number types rather than remaining as strings.
Can I paste a database dump?
You can, but only the INSERT statements will be parsed. CREATE TABLE, ALTER, and other DDL statements are ignored.
